Trendspotting: Oxblood

It's official: The color of the season is seductive oxblood.  An intriguing deep maroon that is flattering to almost any skin tone was all the rage on Fall 2012 runways, including Alexander Wang, Derek Lam, Tommy Hilfiger, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Jason Wu (pictured below) among many others:
More cerebrally sensual than its tarty firetruck-red cousin, Oxblood's dark, moody, and sophisticated.  It works as a statement accessory, beauty product (including lips or nails) or wear-everywhere pieces.You can try a monochromatic look or offset it with chic neutrals like navy, gray, or black

This deep, rich color makes just about anything look edgy and luxe. It mixes well with almost any other color and adds drama, making it an investment-worthy color. Ignore the somewhat macabre name, and make sure to include a piece (or five) in your line-up this season.
