Flash of Glamour: Golden Globes

The Golden Globes were last night, and the fashions were ah-mazing.  Here are a few of the biggest trends and my favorite looks:

Gold accents:

From left: Nicole Kidman in an Alexander McQueen gown with an embellished gold neckline; Kate Hudson in a black and gold Alexander McQueen design that featured a deep cutout and waist cinching belt and Jennifer Meyer jewelry; Helen Mirren in a  long sleeve Badgley Mischka gown, with earrings, a yellow gold cuff and a yellow gold and diamond ring by jeweler David Webb.

Deep necklines:

From left: Allison Williams in a black J. Mendel sequin-seamed halter gown with a deep-V neckline with jewel-encrusted earrings and pulled-back hair; Kristen Wiig in a black Michael Kors gown with a plunging neckline and midriff cutout with golden jewels and a matching Roger Vivier clutch; Katharine McPhee in a black Theyskens' Theory gown and strappy heels.

Halters and high slits:

From left: Claire Danes in a red Versace gown; Lea Michele in an ivory Elie Saab halter gown with detailed sequin embroidery with jewels by Lorraine Schwartz and stappy metallic heels; Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in a black Saint Laurent gown accented with a ruffled neckline and thick waist belt.

Burgundy (aka oxblood):

From left: Miranda Kerr in Zuhair Murad, strappy sandals, a satin clutch from Ferragamo and colorful H.Stern jewels; Naomi Watts in Zac Posen's long-sleeved oxblood gown with a diamond cutout back and draped train, chandelier earrings and a glossy Salvatore Ferragamo box clutch; Jennifer Garner in a strapless Vivienne Westwood Couture gown.

Sheer:

From left: Rachel Weisz in a black Louis Vuitton gown with Bulgari's serpent bracelet; Kerry Washington in sheer beaded Miu Miu dress with a vintage Movado watch and a two carat green diamond cocktail ring by Chopard, with a Prada clutch and pumps; Julianna Margulies in a Pucci column gown with drop earrings and a sapphire and gold down ring by Fred Leighton. 

Shades of blush:

From left: Amanda Seyfried in a nude and lace Givenchy gown with Fred Leighton pendant earrings; Anne Hathaway in a strapless white Chanel column gown; Hayden Panettiere in a blush Roberto Cavalli mermaid gown and a fuchsia Kotur box clutch.
