Nail Break: Velvet Nails

Velvet isn't only popular sartorially, it's also been popping up on nails.  Originally seen at the Ruffian A/W 2012 runway show, this gorgeous catwalk look has trickled onto the sidewalk, courtesy of Ciaté.  Available in three perfect-for-fall shades—Berry Poncho, Blue Suede, and Mink Cashmere —this newest trend adds a little texture to your tips.

Blake Lively was seen stepping out wearing the Blue Suede shade, adding a rich decadence to her digits:
To get the plush DIY mani: apply one coat of the paint pot shade and let it dry. Next, apply a second coat and sprinkle a generous amount of the crushed powder onto wet nails until you have created a heavy layer. Gently sweep off excess powder using the little black brush and let nails dry completely. Because of the 3D texture, there's no need for a top coat. Voila! Velvet nails.
